Windows 8 is too fast to be interrupted

With Windows 8 comes a problem, which you probably won’t really think of as a problem. The problem is, that Windows 8 boots so quickly that the system is unable to register if you press for example F8 for boot menu. Go here if you first want to read how these quick boot times are possible.

This won’t be as big of a problem with older computers running traditional BIOS, but with newer hardware with the new UEFI standard, that enables a lot of new features such as mouse control.

With the new UEFI compatible hardware, an SSD and Windows 8, don’t be surprised to get a boot time of well under 10 seconds after powering on the device.

You can read more about this here in this official MSDN blog post.
